About
Two lovers, trapped in separate worlds, must traverse the land in order to finally live together. Both characters appear on the same screen and must help each other to complete the level. Certain actions in one world affect the other. To switch characters, the player must flip their phone (or press some sort of button, shake the phone, etc.). The goal of each level is to get to the end without dying, which requires the player switching from each character to unblock various obstacles.
Head over Heels is a 2D puzzle-platformer in which the player must reunite two lost lovers trapped in separate worlds. The player must flip their phone in order to change between two worlds, to clear the level using two characters and advance further in the game. Two characters from two different worlds have to work together to solve puzzles.

Environment
The light and dark worlds created by Umbra span across many different environments, climates and locales. Luna, the blue character, was sent to a dark world with snow-covered mountains that touch the dark, starry sky in the blue light of a lonely moon. The cold and mystical landscape in the distance creates a magical experience for the player.

While Luna was sent to a cold world with cold colors and straight geometric shapes, Sol, the yellow character, was exiled to a hot and dry desert. The land of extreme heat, without any shelter to hide from the merciless sun. In the the world of warm colours and wavy shapes Sol would have to go through cutting wind and the heat to reunite with Luna once again.

It was important to design backgrounds and characters at the same time, so that all visuals look consistent. Also, characters were designed in a way to compliment the setting but at the same time to bring main characters in focus.

Manual screen rotation is an example of how the animation would look like when the player flips the phone 180 degrees.
The settings button and world flip buttons will be flipped. Position of two worlds will be switched, and the location of the love token counter will be moved.

Character design
The avatars used in Head Over Heels will match the running style used throughout the game, which is stylized 2D/flat graphics. There will be two avatars per world that the user will be able to control. For the scope of this project, we will be concentrating on two characters, Luna (the Moon themed character), and Sol (the Sun themed character).

Character’s silhouettes give a clear idea of their personalities. For example, Luna’s design was based off a circle, which symbolizes perfection, unity, and energy. Circle also means the planets' journey around the sun, symbolizing Luna’s love to Sol, who was designed to look as a sun. Also, the circle was used to represent Luna because this shape was a Celtic symbols of the cosmos. Since in Luna’s world we can see stars this symbol was the best choice.

Sol was based off a triangle. This shape is known to represent harmony, power, intellect, and love. Therefore, Sol is very loving, smart, calm and serious, but at the same time Sol might not show it, so at times might appear spiky. But, Luna knows that inside Sol is full of love.
Final Design
Home Screen
When users open their app the first thing they see is the Home Screen. After tapping on the Play button, they will be redirected to the main screen where players will get access to all levels, settings, and the shop.
Head over Heels will have three types of levels: unlocked levels, locked levels, and hidden levels. To unlock the locked level users would have to successfully complete the previous level. And to get hidden levels they would have to buy the story with tokens that can be acquired in the shop or by collecting them in levels.

The shop will have three sections where users can purchase characters, stories, and love tokens. Also, once users purchase characters they can select them in the shop.

While playing the game users will also be able to open setting. In the settings it will be possible to enable and disable - music, audio, auto rotation. Players will also be able to restart the game, resume or leave the game.
